History of Alamo
Alamo Rent a Car was founded in 1974 in Florida with a clear vision: to offer low rental rates and a hassle-free customer experience in destinations across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. From the very beginning, the company focused on providing affordable service in the most popular U.S. destinations. Its customer-first approach and competitive pricing strategy allowed the brand to expand quickly.
One of the most significant milestones in Alamo’s history came in 1995, when it launched the first real-time online booking engine. This innovative system allowed customers to make reservations quickly from anywhere in the world, setting a new standard in the car rental industry. Alamo also introduced an online check-in system, further simplifying the rental process for its users.
In 2007, Alamo’s parent company, Vanguard, was acquired by Enterprise Holdings, alongside other brands such as Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental.
With more than five decades of experience, Alamo continues to innovate and adapt to travelers’ evolving needs. Its focus on technology and customer service has allowed it to remain one of the leaders in the car rental industry.
